When Sir Reeves went to shoot Robyn, there was a whole other source of motivation for trekking up to the Metro. There had been an arrangement to spend some time with the next Lady Gaga, NATALIA KILLS. Take Gaga’s synth pop, stick a ball-gag in it, smack it on the ass with a rubber paddle, pull its hair and you get Natalia’s dirty succulent sound. Due to some scheduling errors, her 15 minute preview set didn’t get shot, but Reeves still got to sit and do a portrait session with this next sensation…for ONE WHOLE MINUTE.
Such is the pop life. Enjoy.
Our friend Doug Williams who was robbed of a photo pass this year (deja vu!) exacted his revenge with style and got some of the best Gaga stuff of the fest we’ve seen. All from the audience. BRAVO! Follow him!

After I mentioned BP Fallon telling me about Semi Precious Weapons in 2006 last weekend, a few of you have asked who he really is. My answer? BP is hipper than you. BP Fallon is smarter than you. BP Fallon is pushing 107 but you would never know any of this because he’s not into talking down, but rather talking to you. And to listen to him is like pouring butter into a warm biscuit.

When we first met Gaga, we had some common ground. She was close with a friend I made in NYC years earlier named BP Fallon . He was running a band named Semi Precious Weapons at the time and had urged me to glom on to them back in 2006. When they arrived in town I had an obligation that kept me from shooting them at the Beat Kitchen, a decision I regret to this day. (I probably was shooting something awful for Chicago Scene. Couldn’t have been good as I can’t remember!) Regardless, Gaga was as indelible as she is today and we had an impromptu photo shoot next to the only good setpiece I could find in the kitchen behind Enclave: The liquor cage.
We knew she was gonna hit. Don’t believe us? On August 15th, we wrote “She is, in fact, the new Madonna.” We’re from Witch Mountain ya monsters.

Sir Reeves took this in the back office at Enclave upon Gaga’s second trip to Chicago as she checks out our work from her last visit just months earlier.
She now has this city in a complete fucking frenzy.
